Base
Stats
When
you look at your Pokemon's stat page, you'll see 6 different numbers.
These numbers tell you how good your Pokemon's HP, Attack, Defense,
Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed are. But there's another
set of numbers behind those stats called a Base Stat. The Base Stat
determines how good your overall stat will be. For example, Alakazam
has excellent Special Attack because its Base Stat for Special Attack
is very high. But it has bad Defense because its Base Stat for Defense
is low.
Hit Points (HP)
HP tells you how much life your Pokémon has. Pokémon
with low HP cannot survive very long. When a Pokémon's HP meter
reaches 0, it faints and cannot battle anymore until it is revived.

(like Quick Attack and Mach Punch) or will always go last (like Counter
and Roar).
